For over 35 years, Dr. Lois Townshend and Dr. Kristin Kenney have provided expertise in eye care to families from Massachusetts’ South Shore, to Cape Cod, and the Islands.
We offer a range of eye care services including cataract, glaucoma and cosmetic eye procedures. Our compassionate doctors offer general and diabetic eye care as well as in-office laser treatments. For families south of Boston, Dr. Townshend and her team provide a proactive, preventative, personalized experience when it comes to the many aspects of eye health and optimum vision.

General eye care by Dr. Lois Townshend and Dr. Kristin Kenney includes vision testing, glaucoma testing and retina evaluation.

Dry eye and meibomian gland dysfunction, including LipiFlow.
Eyelid care and cosmetic consults.
Contact lens assessments and follow-up care for patients 10 years and older. Whether you need a fitting, a review of your present contacts, or instructions on how to use and care for them, our contact lens coordinator will guide you through insertion, removal and care. Dr. Kenney consults with patients to find the most comfortable lens for their lifestyle. Daily, weekly or monthly replacements can be ordered through our office, or order online through Abby (helloabby.com) with free shipping.
A refraction (new or updated glasses prescription) carries a separate charge that some insurers don’t cover.
Dr. Lois M. Townshend performs eye surgery at the Ambulatory Surgery and Laser Center of Cape Cod in Sandwich, with glaucoma laser treatment and eyelid surgery in the surgical suite at The Eye Center in Plymouth.
Blepharoplasty removes excess skin and weight from the upper eyelids. Performed in our Plymouth surgical suite after an evaluation with Dr. Townshend; a surgical counselor helps schedule your procedure.

Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry, with a primary care and medical optometry residency at the West Roxbury VA. Focuses on contact lens fittings and primary care.
Ophthalmologist (Retired)
Board-certified ophthalmologist, Harvard graduate and Stanford medical degree, trained at Massachusetts Eye and Ear with a fellowship in retinal and laser surgery. Retired from clinical medicine in 2026.

The Eye Center is a family-oriented practice in the Pinehills area of Plymouth, and some of our staff have served the community for more than 25 years. Positions in technical and front office may be available, with full-time and part-time roles, flexible schedules including eight- or ten-hour days, no evening Friday or Saturday hours, and a competitive benefits package with salary based on experience.
